Bills Sign Dwan Edwards

Aaron Wilson reports that the Bills have added defensive end Dwan Edwards on a four-year, $18 million deal.

Dwan Epps, linebacker for the 2001 Admirals was also called Dwan.

American. Maybe a variation of Dawn (Old English, for that light that breaks just before you crash after pulling an all-nighter), or of the Irish name Dewayne, meaning Dark, or of the early American creation Dajuan, from the Spanish I guess, of God's gift, perhaps.

You'd have to ask Edwards' parents what kind of name they thought it was. But to us here in Baltimore, "Dwan" is a synonym for "oft-injured underachiever."

Will he play DT for the Toronto Bills? Their pass defense was decent due to their pass rush being alright last year.

The AFCE looks like it can have some competition between the Patsies, Jets & Fins next year with the Bills clearly favored to finish in last place.

I'm not high on the Fins. I'm not a big fan of any of their QBs, they have no receivers, their defense can't stop Dallas Clark if the game depended on it. They have an innovative offense, but it basically relies on Ronnie Brown and he hasn't shown he can stay healthy. They relied a lot on Jason Taylor and Joey Porter who are both getting old.

Man, what was the story behind this? Schefter reports the signage yesterday. Another article reports he left Buffalo without the contract, and even quoted Dwan as being frustrated by it. Wish I could find that article, was it just made up?

So do the Ravens get a draft pick for letting him sign elsewhere like restricted free agents? I'm not privvy to the rules.

You actually are privy to the rules. You apparently don't have knowledge of them. But you would certainly have access to the rules (or many explanations of them if you prefer)if you chose to look them up.
