It was a good day to be a Broncos fan. Not only did the team announce that Pro Bowl left tackle Ryan Clady will return to practice tomorrow, but Denver also waived tackle Tyler Polumbus.
I've written enough about Polumbus for one lifetime. I believe -- as Gregg Rosenthal states at PFT -- that the return of Clady to practice precludes him from being placed on the PUP list to start the season. It will be interesting to see if Clady is at 100 percent (or close to it) by the time the season starts.

Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
"In other words, it's impossible to reconcile history with the idea that Clady's going to be back by August. So either one of three things are true here:
1) Clady doesn't have a torn patellar tendon
2) The Broncos and/or Clady are misinforming people about the expected timeframe of his injury
3) Clady is superhuman and will heal at a rate no NFL player ever has."
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
I'd been betting on (2), looks like I was wrong.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
It could still be #1 and there was miscommunication or misinformation going around. But I prefer #3.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Life is good when you have a superhuman left tackle!
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Option 3b ... perhaps he found a substance that helped him heal quickly ...
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Or perhaps option 3c. Medical advances have shortened the recovery time for this type of injury.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
3bi) Medical advances legitimately using said substances.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
3biXv.truck) scientists spliced his DNA with Wes Welker's.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
They spliced Clady's DNA with Welker's, and Welker got party of Clady's.
BRILLIANT! *toast*
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
{Waits for Welker's wife to break into an aria...}
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Wasn't that a South Park episode?
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
I imagine that you can tear something any number of ways. Maybe he tore it in a specific way that heals easily or doesn't impair greatly. So maybe he got lucky.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Option 4) Tim Tebow
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
YES!
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Holy hell. This is fantastic news - the first in a while for Broncos fans.
Also, couldn't they have waived Polumbus before he hurt best defender on the team?
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Lots of crazy news for Broncos today, including that potentially reformed uber-bust Jarvis Moss will be starting across from Robert Ayers... two #1 draft picks.
What I like about this team this year is that while there's considerable room for uncertainty, there's also a lot of possible upside if things work out right. Whereas with a lot of other teams, you generally know what to expect at most positions. If Mario Haggan is the worst starter on our defense this season, then that's not *horrible* anyway...
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
I will forever associate Tyler Polumbus with Eric Cartman saying "He's really good at being offensive. He offends just about everyone. All the time."
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Option number MCXXIV:
The Broncos didn't alert the media to the injury for a month or so after it happened.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Knowing most NFL coaches/teams secrecy about injuries, and that McD studied under the president of the Don't-Say-Anything-to-the-Media Association, I'm betting that this may be the actual truth.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Final option, after all other options have been exhausted: Maybe Josh McDaniels was, gasp, right?
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Crazy talk.
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
Isn't Tylerpolumbus the malady that Haynesworth is suffering with?
Re: Broncos Waive Tyler Polumbus, Get Ryan Clady Back
I thought Haynesworth just had a Lethargy Addiction?
