Oakland Acquires Quentin Groves

The Jaguars have dealt defensive end Quentin Groves to the Raiders for a fifth-round draft pick, according to Jason LaCanfora. Groves was a second-round pick of the team two years ago. Groves has 2.5 sacks as a pro.

As a partial Raider fan, seeing the headline I was like, "Good God, please don't tell me Al gave up another 3rd rounder for a bust", but alas, it actually is a low-risk, probably low-reward move that doesn't really do any bad. Maybe a change of scenery helps him. Who knows.

I am, it's an open admission of a poor draft choice, which is why it only happens when a new GM takes over and has a fire-sale. (such as in JAX)

My God. Another DE. If he loses a little weight, he can join the DE/LB tweeners. Have the Raiders not heard that no matter how many defenseive end / rush linebackers they put on roster, they can still only put 11 men on the field?

Groves good up and cominger type player. Very good chance going to relaize fill potential in Oakland. This is the type of move that really goign to work.

You are all missing out on the best part of this. Based on the way Schefter reported it, it sounds like Groves had to email ESPN for them to even find out about the trade. He's that far off the radar...
