Let's see:
- Chad Pennington is out for the year with a shoulder injury that is reportedly career-threatening.
- Chad Henne is more than likely out for the year with a knee injury.
- Jake Long is having an MRI on his shoulder amidst reports that the injury could be a season-ending dislocation.
- Cameron Wake has a hip injury that could keep him out of the Dolphins' game against the Bears on Thursday.

Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
That's just fan-*******-tastic.
Penny doesn't bother me as much. As great a player as he is, we all knew his arm was hanging by a thread. Hopefully it leaves no life-after-football effects, but I don't mind he's out of the football field. He has a solid career behind him, and the eternal thanks of any self-respecting Dolphins fan. Hopefully we'll see him coaching somewhere (perhaps David Lee will be promoted to OC and hence we'll need a QB coach).
Henne does worry me, because knee injuries to QBs can be killers. He's a tough SOB, but you need to have solid legs to sustain hard hits.
And Long? Well, that's one ugly cherry on the cake. Thigpen's style allows Miami to insert some mobility into their QB, but without Long, who goes to LT? Carey has been good at that spot before, but if he moves you leave the RT position completely crapped.
Wake should be OK. The defense certainly suffers without him, but against the Bears OL, I think Misi can fill in more than adequately.
I smell a 10-3 stinkfest on Thursday...

Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Don't forget the resurgent Devin Hester coming home to Miami to face the Dolphins not-so-special teams. That might be worth 14 points for the Bears.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
So who does that leave for Quarterbacks? Tyler Thigpen and Brandon Marshall, I guess.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
JaMarcus Russell?
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
I heard he takes up two roster spots these days.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Word is they are considering JaMarcus Russell, not sure if it's to replace Jake Long or Vernon Carey if he moves over to LT.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Pretty amazing that JaMarcus Russell gets more consideration than Matt Leinart.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Considering that Russell is currently a free agent, while Leinart is on the Texans' roster, is it really?

EVOLUTION! THE NEW BREED IS HERE!
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Wow. Is the Dolphins training facility built on top of an ancient burial ground or something? Something supernatural apparently hates their guts.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Must be their fans. They're not supernatural, but they sure seem to hate the team's guts. You should have seen the fire-Sparano-for-benching-Henne-cut-Henne-cause-he-sucks threads before the Titans game.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
The Dolphins have been relatively injury-free for the first 1/2 of the season. They lost two starters: Will Allen at CB and 1st round pick DE Jared Ordick to the IR. And that's kind of been it, unless you want to consider backups.
Yesterday was brutal. I'm still hoping for the best with Jake Long.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
The worst part of that is Jake Long. Thigpen can be a catalyst, but not if somebody blind sides him for lack of protection. Wake hurts too but the quarterback situation is salvageable, depends on how we respond on the short week. If we can beat the Bears we'll have 10 days of rest and hopefully will get a lot of people healthy for the stretch run
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Thigpen + heavy wildcat + JP Losman at QB?
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
I would much rather stake my season on Thigpen then Losman...
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
As far as he QBs go I don't think it's that big a deal. Henne has been ehh so far this year and I liked what I saw out of Thigpen in KC a few years ago. I also think we'll see a bit of a wildcat rebirth coming. Might as well install or use some more stuff in the package when you're trotting out your third QB.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
There is so much Pistol in college these days, and it's been showing up every week in the NFL (pretty sure both of Tebow's TDs were out of the Pistol on Sunday). Thigpen put up numbers in KC running it, I fully expect the Dolphins to start aligning in it a lot.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Ah, but that would entail a coaching staff that adapts successfully to change. Not really the Dolphins' forte.

Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Clearly these injuries probably take out any chance at getting into the playoffs. The real sucky part of this is injuries usually open the door to at least get young guys on the field to see where you are for next season. But the Dolphins injury list IS the young guys. So you can't even see a silver lining "at least so and so gets some experience" aspect for them :( The list of guys asking for the QB job is who's who of guys your never want to watch QB your football team, so I'm praying for good health in Thigpen. He's at least fun to watch.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
This blows, especially Jake Long. And I hope Chad P has a long and happy retirement.
Phil Simms is a Cretin.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Jake long must be happy about that.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
Where's the Packers injury thread? While Rodgers is still healthy, they've lost more starters than any other team. Grant, Tauscher (although like Penny, he's at the end of his career), Barnett, Burnett, Brad Jones, Pickett (who has been in and out), Harris (released and with Dolphins), the perpetually IR'ed Justin Harrell, and Jermichael Finley. Plus key reserves Poppinga and Mike Neal.
Re: Your Dolphins Injury Thread
I think all these Fins injuries happened virtually at once, so it makes sense to lump them all in one thread now - whereas the Packers curse has been spread out over the course of the season.
