Somebody told me (it was the Kansas City Star, actually) that the Chiefs and cornerback Brandon Flowers agreed to a new contract last night. According to the paper, the contract is worth $50 million over five years, with $22 million in guarantees.

Lane Johnson and D.J. Fluker were selected high in the draft, but both have troubling flaws in pass protection according to Word of Muth.

This strikes me as a strange signing. There's no doubt that Brandon Flowers' performance is still excellent, but with all of their problems in the passing games on both sides of the ball should the Chiefs' top priority right now really be signing a new lead vocalist and keyboard player?
He's also getting up in age. This would have been a better deal when he was young. Looking on the bright side, somebody told me that all the things he's done point to him being a more cerebral player who reads the defense's minds, a skill humans don't lose until much older.

Getting up in age? I was unaware that "turning 25 this year" was getting up inage.

To be fair, I wouldn't peg 30 as particularly old, either.

It was the easiest way to riff on "When You Were Young."
Re: Brandon Flowers Signs Extension with Chiefs
I can't believe I didn't catch that the first time...
Re: Brandon Flowers Signs Extension with Chiefs
it all depends on his play. if he's human, he's over paid; if he's dancer, then this is good value
