Hall Of Fame Tight End John Mackey Dies

John Mackey, who revolutionized the NFL from the tight end position and the collective bargaining table, passed away at the age of 69 early Thursday morning. He had suffered from dementia for many years and was the main inspiration behind the NFL's "88 plan" to provide financial relief for ex-players suffering through the condition.

That one touchdown he had vs. the Lions... where he ran over like six lions... is one of the greatest touchdowns I have ever seen...

It's not that hard to run over six Lions.

But he said "he ran over like six lions," not Lions. That would be pretty impressive. Although one wonders how they got onto the field.

About the 2:50 mark of this video

And yes the Lions of that era had a very good defense.

For me the best part of that catch and run against the Lions is that the biggest hit he dished out was on a teammate.
