Apparently Larry Fitzgerald was just the first domino to fall in contract extension season. Last night the Browns came to terms with left tackle Joe Thomas on a new contract that will net him $44 million in guaranteed money on top of a seven-year, $84 million package.
This morning, the Steelers joined the fray by re-upping Lawrence Timmons for six years and $50 million. $18 million of which will be in bonuses. (Thanks, bengt)

Offensive line problems highlight the needs in the NFC North ... except in Chicago, which is kind of unsettling to think about.

Re: Lawrence Timmons And Joe Thomas Both Get Big Extensions
Ed Bouchette tweets that the Timmons deal is six years, not five. That seems to be a bargain to me. Then again, he is so young, he could conceivably get another mega-contract, even after six years.
Re: Lawrence Timmons And Joe Thomas Both Get Big Extensions
5 year extension = 6 year contract for a player that currently has a year left.
Re: Lawrence Timmons And Joe Thomas Both Get Big Extensions
Yay.
Timmons was heaving a DPOY season, he was the best linebacker on the best linebacking team.
Joe Thomas deserves the long contract for protecting Colt McCoy vs the Ravens and Steelers twice a year.

And in more news, the niners trade Taylor Mays for a half eaten cheeseburger.

We got that much for him? I was expecting a couple lumps of coal.
So what do you think the odds are the Bud Adams is giving the finger to his fellow owners here?
Re: Lawrence Timmons And Joe Thomas Both Get Big Extensions
I think Thomas is very underpaid, even after the big money contract. Good move for Cleveland.
