The University of Miami's record streak of 149 consecutive weeks with a former player scoring a touchdown ended recently. FO commenter and researcher extraordinaire Travis put together this list of the longest touchdown streaks by college, including which players scored during the streak. Second longest streak? Ohio State, at 82 weeks in a row. Fun fact: Michigan had a 73 week streak contained entirely within Ohio State's streak. Travis also did a post on which schools have held the streak since the merger. It would've taken me a very, very long time to guess Maryland-Eastern Shore once was on top.

Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
Which active streak is the longest?
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
"Pitt now holds the longest active NFL touchdown streak at 14 games [15 after LeSean McCoy's 2 scores Thursday]."
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
"Pro-football-reference does not list Joe Flacco
(1 TD) as a Pitt alum even though he played 3
games there as a redshirt freshman."
That's because he's not an alumnus of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Delaware.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
Alumnus can refer to people who attended but did not graduate from an institution.
There's some back and forth on the matter, but unless anyone can quote the OED, I think Merriam-Webster is a decent enough source.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
Yeah, I'm sure if this were limited to people who actually graduated, most if not all of these streaks would be much shorter.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
A more interesting question is whether being an alumnus or alumna requires matriculation at that school.
In this context I think that it would.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
That's also my understanding of the definition.
I'm an alum of four schools though I only have degrees from two.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
From the OED 2nd edition:
alumnus (əˈlʌmnəs) Pl. -i. [L., = a foster-child; f. al-ĕre to nourish, with ending akin to Gr. -όµενος; cf. Vert-umnus, etc.] The nurseling or pupil of any school, university, or other seat of learning. Also, a graduate or former student (chiefly U.S., esp. in pl.).
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
The rest of the paragraph reads:
"Many other players are listed on PFR
as alums of two or three schools and
are factored into each of those school's streaks."
So based the criteria that is used in this research, Flacco's TD should count for Pitt.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
This has to be the definition of having too much time on one's hands.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
You don't know Travis. He's a mystical research robot, able to do these things in a fraction of the time you'd think it'd take him.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
Does this include Passing TDs or not?
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
Yes, but only for the receiver.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
I like the 20 week OSU streak that was recorded entirely by former backfield mates Thurman Thomas and Barry Sanders.
No other Cowboys scored at all during those 20 weeks.
Re: NFL Touchdown Streaks by College
It's awesome that in to get to 100 Weeks it took Ed Reed's TD against Philly. I was wondering to myself if any week only had Ed scoring.
