Dolphins Cut Chad Johnson

We try to stay away from posting XP on football players' run-ins with the law unless there are on-field implications. Well, here's an on-field implication. After he was arrested for assault and battery on his wife last night, the Dolphins cut Chad Johnson (or Ochocinco, or whatever is technically his name right now). I always thought Johnson was just kind of goofy, but a good guy at heart. This arrest is a bit disheartening. But from a football perspective, we won't be debating whether last year's struggles in New England were a one-year blip or whether Johnson is toast. It looks like he's toasted himself.

Never took him as someone who would abuse women. Damn shame, but you get what you deserve.

Yeah, he always seemed like a goofball, not a villain. Oh well, there was a time everyone thought Marvin Harrison was the classiest WR in football...

To be fair he was about 5th best receiver on the field for Miami week one. It's easier to cut a guy that wasn't exactly in your long term plans.

This. Like a thousand times over.

If he'd looked great they'd be letting the legal system run its course. If he wasn't a distraction, they probably give him a little longer look. But he's a huge distraction, so he's gone.

Chad Johnson/Ochocinco is a well-known and much-discussed player. I'm not sure what "worthy of an extra point" means other than "something people might want to know about and discuss".

Wonder how they'll handle this on Hard Knocks...

At least on the show they made him look like one of the better receivers on the team. But to be fair the other one they focused on was a tight end who hasn't played since high school and got bowled over every time he was asked to block.

A few weeks ago, Chad Johnson promised to do porn if he got cut by the Dolphins. This week, Chad Johnson has been cut by the Dolphins after an argument with his wife about (apparently) the purchase of a box of condoms. I can't decide if this is some wildly mental publicity stunt or not.

Combining this comment and one from above, maybe it was for an adult film called "Forrest Johnson." This could have been some of the dialogue: "Mama always said life was like a box of condoms. You never know what you're gonna get."

The weird part is that the article I read about this talked extensively about his WIFE's history of violence.

Truly a bizarre couple that was a train wreck waiting to happen. Pair two people willing to do absolutely anything for attention and you're going to get a spectacular ending.
