As first reported by Adam Schefter, the next head coach of the Miami Dolphins will be Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin. The Dolphins were previous involved in the Jeff Fisher derby and were also rumored to be hunting after other big name coaches (Cowher, Gruden, Billick). I have to admit Philbin kind of snuck up on me as a candidate, as I didn't hear his name much before this offseason, and he certainly lacks the pizzazz of the other names. He's not a name that will sell tickets, but winning seems to be the best long-term fan attractor.

Offensive line problems highlight the needs in the NFC North ... except in Chicago, which is kind of unsettling to think about.

Flourish, panache, spectacle.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
If I had experienced what Philbin did, I suspect I'd welcome a complete change of scenery. I wish him peace.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
Yeah, league MVP at QB is perilous for an offensive coordinator.
Packers will very probably promote QB coach Tom Clemens to OC.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
I assume he's talking about what happened with his son
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
well I'm the biggest jackass in the world, disregard.
Some things are bigger than football.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
Matt Flynn to Miami then...
Phil Simms is a Cretin.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
He seems better than what they have.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
You're probably right. But it still smells like another AJ Feeley situation and another 2 or 3 years of 8-8 at best. I don't think he'll be a great starter. But if he does go to Miami I'll hope against hope.
I would still much prefer a trade up for Luck or RG3. I really really don't care what it takes.
I do like the hire though.
Re: Dolphins to Name Joe Philbin Head Coach
