Do Great Week 1 QBs Sustain Their Greatness?

The top three quarterbacks in DYAR are Sam Bradford, Alex Smith, and Jared Goff. Is this trio finally living up to their status as first overall draft picks, or is this just Week 1 randomness? We looked at how often a hot Week 1 quarterback sustains his success all year long.

Black Head Coaches: Climbing a Slippery Mountain

Interesting feature in the Denver Post looking at the path that African-American coaches have to take to work their way up to coordinator jobs and then head coach positions. One problem is that offensive coordinators were almost always quarterback coaches first, and quarterback coaches are almost exclusively white. Most black head coaches have worked their way up on the defensive side of the ball; on the offensive side, they generally get running back and wide receiver position coach jobs that rarely lead to coordinator or head coaching jobs.

Monday Morning Digest: Great Defenses, Indefensible Quarterbacks

Temporary Restraining Order Means Elliott Likely to Play All Season

Ugh, the Ezekiel Elliott situation is so damn confusing. So, apparently Elliott's suspension has been held up by arbitrator Harold Henderson. However, because Henderson didn't make the announcement until Tuesday afternoon, the NFL decided to make Elliott eligible to play against the Giants in Week 1. As of now, Elliott will serve his suspension from Week 2 to Week 8 instead... unless he gets a decision for a temporary restraining order. An announcement on that may not be coming until Friday, so have fun figuring out where to take him in your fantasy drafts.

NFL Moves TB-MIA Game to Week 11

The NFL has announced that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Miami Dolphins Week 1 game "will not be played in Miami on Sunday " due to Hurricane Irma.

It has not been decided when or where the game will be played. Both teams have a bye in Week 11, so playing the game that week is a simple option.
