Remember a couple of weeks ago when we all laughed at the Patriots signing Martin Grammatica? That was nothing compared to Atlanta signing Seth Marler. We are really scraping the bottom of the kicker barrel now. Do the Falcons understand just how bad Marler was? You are talking about a guy who has not kicked in the NFL in three years, and in his one season was worth an astonishing 27 points below the average NFL kicker. Did Todd Peterson kill Jim Mora's children or something?

I was just thinking the other day, after watching 18 hours of draft coverage, that nothing would be sweeter than to take a look ahead to 2007. I am officially burned out on all this draft talk, but if you just can't get enough, here are the top 100 college players for next year. Number one on your 2007 draft board and number one in your heart: Brady Quinn.

One of my buddies is a Virginia Tech alum and last week he mentioned that CB Jimmy Williams had already ordered a $350,000 Lamborghini in anticipation of being a top 15 pick in the draft. At the time I didn't believe him but apparently it's true. The good news is the car is on the way. The bad news is that Williams wasn't drafted until 37th. Last year Derrick Johnson was the 15th pick and he signed a contract worth roughly $10 million in guaranteed money.

I heart Mike Mayock and Corey Chavous. The New York Times weighs in on the draft coverage. (free registration/bugmenot required)

In his latest, Easterbrook takes a look back at the weekend that was. Maybe it's just me, but the fact that he found ESPN's coverage "light years better" than the NFL Network's is a little troubling. I do agree that ESPN had much "better visual variety" -- showing which teams were on the clock and in the hole, for example -- but to say ESPN had, "... more personality, more insight" is hard to take seriously when Michael Irvin has a seat at the table. Well, at least the insight part.

Marcus Vick didn't get drafted and has yet to sign a free agent contract, but he will workout at the Dolphins rookie mini-camp this weekend. According to the story, "the invitation comes with no strings attached and no promises of employment." If Vick isn't signed he may end up in the CFL.

From the AP: "After meeting with a group of NFL owners, Schwarzenegger said he was there to make sure 'we're getting not only one NFL team to the Los Angeles area, Southern California, but to actually get two teams. That's why I came. Why limit it?'" Why stop at two? An NFL team for every neighborhood!

I'm all for guys staying in school -- except for Matt Leinart -- but this seems kinda weird. Santonio Holmes is a junior, so it's not like he's taking classes to graduate this semester. Still, the NFL and NCAA have an agreement "that limits a rookie's participation in the spring until his college class graduates." Good for Holmes for finishing out the semester, but I wonder if, under the agreement, he can just drop out of school and report to his new job in time for the "voluntary" coaching sessions.

Any predictions on what position Lewis will play? Aside from Marcus Pollard and Antonio Gates, is there anyone else in the NFL who didn't play college football?

Bill Connelly takes a look at the early-season S&P+ outliers and whether his eyeballs agree or disagree with the stats. Spoiler: Alabama is underrated. Alabama! Underrated!
