Okay, maybe Favre won't be traded to a contender but what about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? Two weeks ago, the Bucs were considered a playoff-caliber team and now they're 0-2. Chris Simms has looked absolutely dreadful and I can't imagine Jon Gruden going with him much longer if he continues to average three picks a game. Granted, Favre can rack up interception totals in a hurry, but he's still better than Simms. And if not Favre, who else is available?

The Atlanta Falcons proved DVOA right last year after their late season collapse. (Click link to read more.)

On opening night, Ron Jaworski took Art Shell to task for calling too many long pass plays with seven-step drops. The Raiders offensive line simply could not hold up in the face of pressure and Aaron Brooks couldn't get passes off. This week against Baltimore, same thing, but after the game, Shell claimed he only called two seven-step drops all game. John Ryan of the San Jose Mercury-News called up Jaws, and Jaws watched the BAL-OAK tape and counted 13 seven-step drops. Who's right? I don't know about you, but my money is on Jaws.

I think most Football Outsiders readers would easily pick Bob Costas over Chris Berman, but would you pick NBC's new Football Night in America over ESPN's old NFL Primetime? Robert Weintraub from Slate thinks not, and I agree. Thanks to reader Jimmy Ryals for the tip.

If there's any player who has the right to speak up after his team starts the season 0-2 it's Kellen Winslow. Since, you know, he's played in all of four games in three seasons. So Romeo Crennel, listen up: "Some of the coaches might just be holding us back a little bit ... I don't mean to try to go behind their backs or whatever, but let's go, let's air it out, let's run the ball, let's make plays, let's be exciting."

Hey Musburger, loose lips sink ships. Or something like that. Seriously, during these game preparation meetings don't teams explain what can and can't be discussed on the air?

Michael Koenen could not make it a full year as a combo kicker/punter. How did the last guy who did it lose his job? (Click link to read more.)

How iffy is the 2017 quarterback class? Even our highest-rated prospect has us questioning the numbers. While the top of the draft is full of risky picks, though, we might have found a solid mid-round sleeper.
