Our old pal Mike Tanier notes that even in victory, the Patriots, Cardinals, Panthers, and Broncos showed serious flaws in their game, then explores how those flaws might lead to success or victory on championship Sunday.

Peter King talks to Bruce Arians about one of the craziest playoff wins you'll ever see, including details on the game-winning touchdown, a play the coach had been saving for two years.

Usually, when an NFL team names a new head coach, they want all the attention they can get. Tennessee is apparently not so proud of their new hire, because they announced that Mike Mularkey was their new head coach during the Chiefs-Patriots playoff game, when nobody was watching.
Hey, if you were hiring a guy with an 18-39 head coaching record, you'd be sneaky about it too.

Two teams hired new head coaches on Thursday.
The Philadelphia Eagles hired Kansas City offensive coordinator Doug Pederson. The move cannot be formally announced until the Chiefs are eliminated from the postseason, but the Eagles did not deny the report: "We have concluded our search for a head coach," a team spokesman said. "No further interviews are scheduled."

Well, let's hope that he can improve his relationship with players, because the 49ers don't need any more good players trying to leave. Still, I think this makes sense as a hire. I think Kelly made some personnel mistakes this year, but I still think he's a good game coach. And if they can keep Colin Kaepernick around, that seems like the perfect quarterback for Kelly's offensive scheme.

Hey folks! Sorry I have not been posting my weekly previews/Hangovers lately. The playoffs bring travel days and odd schedules that throw me off my routine. Anyway, here's my annual festival of chalk for the divisional round.

This is a really exciting step for the former No. 1 pick of the Buffalo Braves, who you may remember for his 1975 MVP campaign.
OK, maybe I'm the only one who constantly makes that mistake and refers to the new Giants head coach as Bob McAdoo. Ben McAdoo, the ex-Packers QB coach who was brought over to put Eli Manning in a timing-based West Coast offense, will be promoted to head coach to replace Tom Coughlin. He also interviewed with the Eagles and the Giants may have decided on McAdoo in part to make sure he didn't go to their rivals.

The most creative offensive coordinator in the league is headed to the other side of Ohio to pilot the Cleveland Browns, a.k.a. (according to the everyone in the media) THE FLAGSHIP FOR ANALYTICS.
So, hey, good luck to Hue Jackson. It's ridiculous that one team is going to be the public flagship for a tool that a lot of front offices use, but if that's how it has to be, those of us doing analytics on the outside would certainly be a lot better off if that team would win some games. Plus, formations where the offensive linemen flex out wide are fun!

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the owners have approved the Rams' move from St. Louis to Los Angeles by a 30-2 vote, with the Chargers given an option to join them. The Raiders will remain in Oakland, with a big chunk of the Rams' relocation fees likely going to build a new stadium there.

The Bucs' rookie made a lot of big plays last year, but he'll need to cut down on turnovers and sloppy throws to live up to his draft status.
