I think the mark of a true football nerd is that you've been paying close attention to the Senior Bowl practice updates on NFL Network. I know I have. Here's a good rundown of which teams have shown an interest in which players. Is anyone surprised that the Broncos are looking at a running back?

This is a pretty good list, but Floyd "Pork Chop" Womack didn't make the cut, and that might be the best nickname ever. And it gets better. Apparently Womack, born in Mississippi, was given the name by his mother, who thought he resembled Pork Chop Cash, a local pro wrestler.

Michael Rosenberg makes some points in favor of the host of this year's Super Bowl. But the one I want to address is this:

OK, this is one of those stories you see during the "dead week" leading up to the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh, the designated home team, has chosen to wear their road whites for the big game. Bill Cowher claims that since his team isn't playing at Heinz Field, it's a road game. Maybe. Or perhaps it has something to do with the Steelers reeling off three in a row on the road in the playoffs.

Somebody finally figures out how to defend against Steve Smith, Denver's defensive line turns back into pumpkins, and CBS declines to show us hot Denver cheerleaders. All this and more covered in the latest TMQ. I can't believe I didn't think to compare the Smith defense to basketball's box-and-one, it's a great comparison. I did, however, send Gregg an e-mail to complain about his use of the simplistic NFL rankings for pass defense. Denver does not have a bad pass defense, or, at least, did not before Sunday.

See, when Ron Borges writes about something unrelated to Bill Belichick, he's not so bad. The subject here is Seattle's unfamiliarity with the 3-4 defense. I agree that this will be an important issue for Seattle to work on over the next two weeks, and the best NFC teams do seem to struggle against 3-4 defenses from the AFC. (I did a little bit on this last year with Philadelphia, and hope to do some numbers research over the next week.) But we should point out that Seattle actually played four games against 3-4 defenses this season, not just one.

Not really, but wow, look at this guy's mullet. That is one puffed-up mid-80's haircut right there. Should we be concerned that Japanese kids are getting inspired to play football by watching The Replacements?

Western Pennsylvania high school student and Denver Broncos fan, Joshua Vannoy, claims that his teacher and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, John Kelly, forced him to take a test on the floor, and instructed other classmates to pelt him with balled up pieces of paper because he wouldn't remove his John Elway jersey during last Friday's class. Some of you might remember Kelly from his role as Buddy Revell in "Three O'Clock High."

Peter King examines what led Pittsburgh and Seattle to the Super Bowl and tells us which team he thinks is heading in the right direction this off-season.

When asked at his press conference how it feels to win the Beard Bowl, here's what Ben Roethlisberger said, "Two words: Katie Holmes." OK, he didn't really say that. In fact, he wasn't even asked the question. Anyway, here's DJ Gallo's latest. And congratulations on his engagement.
