Meyer Uses Behavior Modification for Florida Players

There's a new sheriff in, uh, Gainesville. Urban Meyer is taking a zero tolerance approach to law-breakers on his team and he's using former UCLA coach John Wooden as inspiration. According to the article, to keep players out of trouble Meyer relies on, "peer pressure, a strong investment of assistant coaches in players' lives and a reward system that allows the coach to essentially spoil the players he likes."

What if Marino had Played One More Year?

After the 1999 season, Jimmy Johnson made it clear to Dan Marino that it was time to move on, and the Dolphins would have their first new quarterback since Marino himself was a rookie. Marino was coming off his worst season but wasn't entirely ready to leave, and he considered a public offer from Dennis Green to join the Vikings.

That much is old news. What's interesting is to learn today that the Steelers wanted the Pittsburgh native to play one more year with them. Bill Cowher called, but Marino declined the offer.

Rosenhaus Performs CPR, Saves Boy

Drew Rosenhaus will do anything to get his name in the papers, won't he? The agent performed CPR to save a young boy pulled unconscious from a swimming pool at a Disney World resort hotel Tuesday. The Chicago boy was on a trip with his family. He was transported to a hospital but was expected to be fine. In the brief moments that Rosenhaus's lips were near the boy's ears, he convinced him to refuse to do any household chores until his parents increase his allowance.

Which Career Would You Want?

FO reader Adam has a post on his blog listing an eclectic mix of professional football players and then asking, "Which Career Would You Want?" This certainly isn't a list I would've come up with, but it does make you think. I would've said Jason Sehorn until I actually heard Angie Harmon speak, so instead, I'm going with Timmy Smith.

49ers Hire Falcons' Fired PR Man

The 49ers have hired Aaron Salkin their director of public relations. Why do we bother to mention this somewhat mundane story? Because it serves as a reminder of what happened to their last PR director, Kirk Reynolds, who resigned after the explicit training video he made became public.

Is Vince Young an NFL Prospect?

Watching the Rose Bowl with my wife this year, she asked me where I thought Vince Young would be drafted. Until she asked, I honestly had never even thought about him becoming a pro. His throwing motion is so bizarre that I just can't imagine him being an NFL quarterback. And yet, as I watched him make the Michigan defense look like a high school team, I realized that he's just too good an athlete not to find a spot somewhere on an NFL roster.

Man Flagged by Police for Impersonating Steeler QBs

This guy is also available for birthdays, bar mitzvahs, and weddings. The funniest thing to come out of this story is that Brian Jackson, the impersonator, was actually able to get a date by pretending to be the Steelers third string QB, Brian St. Pierre. The second funniest thing to come out of this was that Jackson ruined a perfectly good Roethlisberger jersey by signing it.
