Both the Atlanta-Journal Constitution and Jay Glazer are reporting that Falcons wideout Julio Jones will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury. The Falcons are expected to address this at a 2:30 ET press conference.
The regression fairy, she is not kind.

Hooray! Another article about going for it on fourth down, with which to poison Mike Smith's brain! But this one is armed with years of Football Outsiders data, and it breaks down the plays which have been most successful on 4th and short. That way, you can figure out what Mike Smith is doing wrong (besides failing to mount a pass rush or hire defensive backs who can tackle or developing decent special teams units or ...)

It’s incredibly difficult to boil down any player with just one play. Yet, if Matt Waldman needed a play to add to the highlight reel that will help a team make a decision where to slot Wilder, Jr. on its board, this is his nomination - not because it's the most impressive play as much as it's a telling indication of the player in terms of that double-edged sword.

Josh Freeman will be signing with the Vikings according to many reports. While I know many folks who are skeptical of Freeman's future, I think a lot of people have been hopeful he'd land in Minnesota. Based on what little has been reported about the Buccaneers, it's hard not to think that Tampa Bay is a poorly run organization from the top-down. (Click to read more.)

For an undisclosed "late-round" pick in 2014, you, too, could own a linebacker that couldn't beat out Chase Blackburn. The Giants could definitely use the help at linebacker, but it's an open question how much of it Beason will be able to provide at this point.

Over at Deadspin's new, nerd-inspired "Regressing" blog, Reuben Fischer-Baum created bubble charts for each offense based on DYAR at the four major skill positions.
