Rookie Scouting Portfolio contributor Nathan Miller is a fan of Robert Griffin's potential to develop into an NFL star. However, there are two big issues that he fears could derail Griffins progress, especially with the opposition getting more NFL film to scout the quarterback ahead of time.

Minor weaknesses dot these teams. Except for Arizona, which needs to bring in more help to really run Bruce Arians' offense.

Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
"The success he has seen early this season will not continue throughout the year and one can already see a decline in play even if it isn’t evident in the box score just yet."
The Vikings, the 9th rank defence in DVOA, had 5 games of tape on Griffin and he shredded them to the tune of 7.7/pass attempt and 10.1 yards per rush.
Either the author is a lot smarter than the Viking coaching staff, or stopping Robert Griffin is harder than the author thinks.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
I just watched a replay on my PVR of the game. I'm not by any stretch a qualified football guy but I sure couldn't see any pre snap tells and I was looking for the exact thing this guy was talking about. What I saw was ball fakes that were freezing the Viking lbs constantly and then the ball comes out bam on the money.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
References to the phantom fans who are saying RGIII is already a Hall of Famer get rather tiresome. I'm a Redskins fan living in the DC area and have yet to see such an optimist on the internet, much less meet one in person. They don't exist except in the minds of analysts who are trying way too hard to be contrarian.
Wait, you're saying a rookie playing the toughest position in the game has areas where he needs to improve? That he's not flawless? Wow, what a ballsy stance to take. You must make so many enemies with those unpopular views.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
But it's fun to argue with straw men!

If only they had a brain...
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
I live in Redskin country and I'm a Giants fan.
People seriously try to tell me that RG3 is currently better than Eli. People that are otherwise pretty smart. I don't understand.
I swear people just look at QB rating and think that's all that matters.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
That's not true. The same people also use fantasy stats to prove how good a player is.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
LOL
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
Not only is it a straw man, it's sloppy analysis.

Excellent comment over on the website, sir.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
Great comment. Far better than the article it was a reply to.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
As a Redskins homer, I don't often get tired of reading about RG3. But this article is shit. Charles Pierce wrote a far better one over at Grantland (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8507456/robert-griffin-iii-concussio...)
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
"First-ballot Hall of Famer. Sounds ridiculous? Well it should."

What a way to start it out. Bringing up a straw man, acknowledging it is a straw man that the reader doesn't believe, then re-affirming the point. And it's pretty much all downhill from there.
The taking too many hits part is the only part that really holds up. The one lengthy comment to the article (there's a grand total of three comments, so it won't be hard to find the one I'm talking about) refutes everything else and makes the author sound like he either has an agenda or just isn't very observant. Do us all a favor and steer clear of anything by this Nathan Miller guy in the future.
Re: Robert Griffin III – First Ballot Inductee? Not So Fast…
I love this literary device. It can be used for anything.
The Spin Doctors are the greatest band ever. Sounds ridiculous? Well, it should.
Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo should have won the Oscar for best picture. Sounds ridiculous? Well, it should.
Any team looking for a QB upgrade should call Jeff George. Sounds ridiculous? Well, it should.
One would expect the ensuing article to be only about 2 more sentences from there. Unfortunately, this author proceeds to lengthily refute the point he has already acknowledged the reader doesn't believe.

Nathan Miller is the greatest football analyst ever. Sound ridiculous? Well, it should.
