SITE NEWS: Annoying Captcha Update

So, we've now set the site so that Premium subscribers should be bypassing CAPTCHA to post comments. We figure if the spammers want to pay us $40 a year, they can spam all they want. We've also set up the ability to tag certain commenters so that they will also skip CAPTCHA. If you are someone who posts here pretty regularly, but you aren't a Premium subscriber, leave a comment here and we'll consider adding you to that list when we get time. (Raiderjoe is already taken care of.)

I'd love to be de-captcha'ed, too. I've been at FO since before you had to register and since I work in academia I have nothing worthwhile to spam.

I would prefer to not have to input a captcha every time I comment. I have trouble enough with those things.

I've actually had zero problems with captcha (in fact, I can't remember the last time I saw it here), but in the last couple of weeks I've had three or four posts eaten by the spam filter, which is much more annoying. (And weird...I didn't even have any links in the posts or anything).

I've had similar issues. Maybe the spam filter doesn't like the name "Steve".

This has been a problem for me too. And my name isn't Steve real or user. I just assumed it was because I hate the Patriots, and everyone knows FO loves them.

I guess there's no chance I get decaptchapitated after that comment but I'd still like to be...

Wouldn't it be possible to perform some sort of automatic decaptcha-ing process? Maybe turn off captcha-s for any account that has more than 10 comments and is more than 2 weeks old, something like that? Any account made for spamming should be decativated by that point.

Intermittently having to do Captcha doesn't particularly bother me, but intermittently getting my posts blocked entirely definitely does. If getting decaptchad (liburaitid?) would help with that, then it would be very much appreciated.

I've been posting here since the Vowel-less Wonder was running for President, and to me captcha is as annoying as Voter ID laws, so please follow the lead of Pennsylvania and suspend it for me? Thanks!

And, RaiderJoe is exempt from Captcha because he writes it -- he just thinks it's normal words anyone ought to be able to spell, so he doesn't quite understand why it works!

It seems like it shouldn't be that hard to uncaptcha everyone who has been a member for several years, or perhaps all members who have purchases associated with their account. I have four years worth of KUBIAK and FOA 2012 available to download. I think it's safe to assume I'm not a spammer.
