Adrian Peterson and J.J. Watt were the lone unanimous selections. Hard to find too much to be mad about here. I might have chosen a different center than Max Unger for the first team, and I really wish Daryl Washington had made the first team. On the other hand, now Justin Smith can call himself a second-team All-Pro at defensive end and defensive tackle, so that's fun.

Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Justin Smith was first and second team All-Pro last year, so this is a step down for him.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
There is no second team all pro. They only vote for first team. To then cobble together a second team the way they do is nonsense. Don't recognize it.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
yeah if you know someone is unanimous you can put your guy on second team by being lone dissenter. 1 vote makes you second team, someone else could get a dozen and not make it.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Yeah fbat is fair wua to examine it BlueStarDude.
Crappy now assoc. Press will pick two left tskcles for tackle spots. Oakland rapper Yukmouth once say "if you're gonna do it, do it right". Assoxiapted Press should pick a left tackle and a roght tackle for the two tackle spots.
Also should pick 11 offensne and 11 defense guys.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
I guess they figure it doesn't matter as long as the O-Line's got 5 on it.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
This is fantastic.

Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Amazing. A+.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Gotta disagree with you here, RJ. If the RTs were that good, they'd be playing LT. It's almost like saying they should pick one #1 receiver and one #2 receiver.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Only If recsovers played exclusively on one side of fiekd
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
It is like you cant call it a "team" if you got 2 left tackles and 0 right tackles.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
I don't believe anyone who knows better thinks that RTs are failed LTs. They have different skill sets.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Applying the "a right tackle is just a failed left tackle" logic across the board produces some pretty ridiculous results. You could say that a guard or center is just a failed left tackle, since in fact it is rather common for guys that can't hack it at tackle to be moved to the interior. And you could say that a wide receiver or a running back is just a failed running quarterback. You'd end up with an All-Pro team starting five left tackles, Tony Gonzalez at tight tend, Peyton Manning at quarterback, and with Russell Wilson, RGIII, Cam Newton, and Colin Kaepernick as the backs and wideouts. That would be a hell of an entertaining team to watch but it wouldn't have much to do with how football is played.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
No, I wouldn't, for the simple reason I'm pretty sure that team would lose to the one with Peterson at running back, Spiller as a change-up and the Johnsons and Green at WR. Cam Newton would not be a better receiver than Megatron. Duane Brown would be a better right tackle than any right tackle you care to name (at least in a zone blocking scheme, but that's an entirely different can of worms).
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
If the RTs were that good, they'd be playing LT
This makes no sense.
Look at the line in Baltimore: the team seems to think Michael Oher is their best tackle, so, naturally, he began the year as the starting LT. But if the guy on the right gets hurt, or they want to make a change for other reasons (like wanting to play the line that looked so good against Denver), they bring Bryant McKennie in at LT, and move Oher to RT. Not because McKennie is better, but because he can only play left tackle. Oher can play either.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
I should expand:
Plenty of LTs could not play RT as well as plenty of RTs. Some RTs could play LT better than some LTs. But the very best LTs would play RT better than any RT. There's no skill an RT requires that isn't substantially useful for an LT. Interior guys are different: there's arguably an active advantage to a stockier frame, and less requirement for arm length. No team can afford two guys who can pass block on an island and demolish people in the run game. If they could, they would, but they can't (most teams don't even have one) so those guys play LT. Oher and McKinnie are irrelevant, because neither of them is good enough to figure in the All Pro discussion. Does anyone seriously think Willie Anderson was a better RT than Ogden would have been if he'd played there?
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Gotta wonder who was the lone crank who voted against Calvin Johnson.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
Tim Ryan, FOX idiot. Is it pushing rule one to suggest that everything Rupert Murdoch touches results in biased, mediocre, low grade journalism that tarnishes the human experience?
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
To call Fox Sports journalism mediocre is to give them too much credit. I don't think they're biased -- they care only about stories they can turn into controversies. Probably half of the Fox sports crew is chasing after Princess Kate now.
Re: All-Pro Teams Announced
You're underestimating Fox's Troy Aikman, who can turn even the most exciting game into a snooze-fest!
