Bum Phillips Passes On

Well, this pretty much sucks. Ex-Oilers coach Bum Phillips passed away Friday night at 90.

Here's an NFL Films special on Bum if you, like me, weren't around to be an NFL fan in Bum's heyday.

As a Pittsburgh fan when Bum and the Oilers were banging on the door, it was easy to respect Houston and even have some affection for Bum. It's a shame that we rarely see coaches like him any more.

90 years is a good run. The man passed away a beloved legend, his legacy forever changing the face of the NFL, and his lingering concern was to help more kids. That's a fantastic life.

Sad that his former employer passed on, as well.
