Wow, SI.com... I know advertising pays the bills, but TWO pop-up ads in the first 5 seconds of being on the site? (And not just normal pop-ups but the annoying kind that grey out the entire screen until you close them.)

Step 1: ditch IE for something else (chrome, firefox, opera...)
Step 2: install Adblock Plus and/or a flashblocker.
Step 3: ??
Step 4: less annoyances!

I've got Chrome, Adblock Plus, and Flash Block. Still got a big ol' annoying ad on this page too.

(But only one, which I guess partially proves your point.)

Firefox with Noscript worked flawlessly, as usual. No popups.
