MMQB: Overlooked Storylines

Same great MMQB taste, linked one day later!

I always struggle with the definition of "overlooked" when it comes to the NFL media. Can anything really be overlooked in a world where Leger Douzable has 300+ Google News stories?

I actually agree with PK's take on the Boldin trade. Just think how much attention it would have grabbed if Crabtree had been injured first and then the niners had swooped for Boldin. It would have been hailed as a season saving trade and a freaking steal, though partly because the niners have next to nothing else at the position.

It seems to me this is a continuing issue in regards to overlooking Boldin. I don't follow the Ravens all that closely, but I don't recall there being all that much excitement over them landing him, either. I saw lots of people saying even then that he was in decline, his success with the Cards had come because of Fitzgerald being lined up on the other side of the field, etc. Looks like that same thinking has followed him over to the 49ers.

But could they have gotten Boldin for the same price if the Ravens had known how desperate they'd be?

Oh lordy no. Especially not now when there are no veterans left to pursue, no draft to look to and the collection of swan whistles and clown honks that accompany the remaining 49ers receivers throughout training camp.

I wonder if they might have given Brandon Lloyd a call. It is still pretty odd to me that a guy who managed 70 catches each of the last 3 seasons isn't in camp with any team.

Wait, does PK really think that a "you mad bro" shirt is a reference to Richard Sherman??
