MMQB: On the Super Bowl

In this week's Monday Morning Quarterback, Peter King writes about the only NFL game played on Sunday, plus thoughts on the Hall of Fame voting and the rest of the Super Bowl week experience. My favorite part was Jimmy Smith talking about the 49ers' final offensive play: "It was pretty obvious by then the receiver was being physical, and I was being physical, and the refs were letting that stuff go." Yep.

" 'MVP! MVP! MVP!' Joe Flacco's extended family and friends chanted when he walked into his family's private party at Huck Finn's in the French Quarter this morning, just before 1 a.m..."

Sometimes Peter King creeps me out.

"...Later that night, while the newly-crowned MVP and his wife were enjoying an intimate moment in their suite at the Marriott, I was making a sandwich from the deli tray in the suite's kitchen and I couldn't find any of the spicy brown mustard the Marriott is famous for. I went into the bedroom and asked Joe if he knew where the mustard was. Flacco's wife, Dana, obviously feeling the stress of the long day, shouted something and flounced off to the bathroom, but the Super Bowl MVP was as calm as ever.
With an embarrassed grin, he explained that he had used up all the mustard making a sandwich earlier that afternoon. Perhaps spicy brown mustard is the secret ingredient to Super Bowl stardom..."

Interesting seeing the time spent debating HoF candidates on page.

Only 4 minutes on Tim Brown ... does it take that long to say "He's said some dumb stuff this week about Bill Callahan, let's forget about him this year".

And 57 mins to decide Bill Parcells had a HoF coaching career. Really?
