NFL Trade Value, Part I

Bill Barnwell begins the latest installment of the NFL Trade Value column over at Grantland. I'm expecting to see a lot of last year's rookie quarterbacks in the top few spots.

Damn, Parts 1 and 2 were fun! And for Colts fans, it's like last decade all over again--Good news is you have a top-3 player. Bad news is that's all you have. We might see Dwayne Allen up there, or Castonzo (on the bubble already) or one of the unsung ILBs because they're so young and cheap, but basically it looks like 2000 all over again.

While it's true the Colts only have one guy up there, I might point out that the entire AFC East sans New England has none. Bill Simmons had the temerity to forget that when griping that the Patriots only had two. As far as I could tell, only the Niners and Seahawks had more than two. The Bills didn't even have a player mentioned in the entire article, even thought CJ Spiller might be the most explosive player in the division. The other caveat I must add is that rookies are not included, so next year the Colts may end up with two or more on the list. Werner would not be that much of a suprise.

"As far as I could tell, only the Niners and Seahawks had more than two."

Do you mean top 25? For the whole list, the Lions have three. (When you've been regularly picking in the top-5 the previous 5+ years, you'd better have at least that many).

Wow, I better go back and count. I don't think I missed any other team. Still the point about Simmons being greedy stands.

Stafford, Suh, and Megatron.

Yes, your point is still a good one. Us Lions fans are used to our team getting very little credit for anything (deservedly so, mostly), that we're hyper-vigilant about them getting shortchanged in any statistic/category.
