Football Outsiders seeks a new Assistant Editor. Job responsibilities may include:
This is a full-time, entry-level position. ("Entry-level" means it is not going to support you if you have a wife and kids. Seriously, be young and live cheap.) Experience with Excel and statistical analysis is required. Residence in the Boston area is a plus, but far from a necessity. Experience editing a newspaper or website is also a big plus, and I expect applicants to understand how to use proper spelling and grammar. We need people who are reliable and can turn projects around promptly. Please don't be the kind of person who constantly loses the battle with procrastination. (I already fill that slot in the FO management.)
If you are interested, please send a resume and two writing samples -- preferably about sports, and preferably commentary rather than straight reporting -- to mailbag-at-footballoutsiders.com by Monday, July 8, 2013. Please be aware that since we're in hardcore book-writing mode, you won't hear back from us until the middle of July. (That's why you have three weeks to send something in.)
Please do not ask questions about this opening in any of the discussion threads on the site or over Twitter. Any questions you have can be sent to our mailbag.
Thanks a lot, Dak Prescott. Now more people will think the fourth round is still a gold mine for quarterbacks, but the data says otherwise. The update to our quarterback draft study for 1994-2016 shows little has changed: finding a good QB is really hard.
