Major injuries to contenders for the second seed in each conference blight the Week 16 injury report, while Tennessee loses both its playoff chance and its starting quarterback in Jacksonville.

This is a really interesting analysis by our friend Greg Bedard, looking at a variety of metrics from both FO and PFF (blocking, run game, weapons, coaching, and defense) to get an estimate on which quarterbacks are in the best situation to succeed. The Rams and Browns are worst, but Vikings are very low (Cian Fahey is nodding now). At the top are the Steelers, the Patriots (coaching, remember?) and the Cowboys. Please ignore the fact that the SI website layout makes me want to stab my eyeballs out and often includes self-launching video, and read the article anyway, because it is good.

Our two headline players may or may not miss time following a very mild Week 15 for injuries.

In the wake of today's blown lead and loss to the Houston Texans that dropped them to 2-12 on the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars have fired head coach Gus Bradley. Bradley provided great enthusiasm but found little success on the field in nearly four seasons in Jacksonville. He finishes with a career record of 14-48. An interim head coach was not immediately announced.

A lot of readers have asked me to run numbers on kickoff returns this year, to find out if returners really are making a mistake by taking it out of the end zone so often. I never have found the time, so it's nice that Benjamin Morris at FiveThirtyEight has done it for me.
"If the entire league had simply taken a knee on these 356 kickoffs it returned out of the endzone, it would have saved a combined 1,108 yards of field position."
So stop taking the damn kickoffs out of the end zone. Stop it already. Just stop.

Brock Osweiler did against New England what Brock Osweiler often did all year -- which is something we have rarely seen in the NFL before this season.
