Jordan Gross to Retire

Panthers tackle Jordan Gross will call it a career. The No. 8 overall pick in the 2003 draft exits after 162 starts, three Pro Bowls, and one first-team All-Pro selection. Carolina has a huge hole to replace.

I felt a great disturbance in Charlotte, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.

Nah, that was just Cam Newton. He's really loud.

As awesome of a lineman as Gross was for the Panthers, he was always much better as a right tackle than a left tackle.

Regardless, he will be sorely missed. Even if they were somehow able to snag a very good LT through free agency, Gross is pretty much a legend in Charlotte.

Excellent player and a big loss for the Panthers. He's got absolutely 0% chance for the Hall, but the main reason for that is he never won the Ruben Brown Scholarship to Hawaii for offensive linemen. He was just as good as some guys who'll get much more serious consideration.
