FiveThirtyEight: Terrible Year for Quarterback Injuries

For FiveThirtyEight, I took a look at what has been a brutal season of quarterback injuries in the NFL. Beyond stars such as Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck, we've lost an extremely promising rookie (Deshaun Watson), a former No. 1 overall pick who may have been ready to peak (Sam Bradford), and a veteran on his last legs (Carson Palmer). We looked at adjusted games lost for quarterbacks since 2000 and adjusted the numbers by passing DVOA to get a sense of the quality of quarterbacks lost to injury. 2017 hasn't been the worst season on record, but it's sure getting there, and hopefully we won't have to add much to the injury database the rest of the year.

Granted, the Saints defense hadn't hit its stride yet, but the opening game with a healthy Bradford (and Dalvin Cook) gave a glimpse of what heights the Vikings offense might have attained. They've done well with Keenum, on the strength of excellent blocking and receiving, but if they would have had somebody with top notch throwing ability getting the ball to the optimum spot consistently, they really could have blown the doors off. They may get some real improvement still with Bridgewater, but who knows?

Tyrod Taylor coudk actually be the Vikings quarterback in 2018. Bridgeater may prove too brittle. Vradofrd goodbye. Keenum more if backup type

Lest we forget, the top QB in the NFL has been sidelined with a knee injury all season.

I feel like this was some kind of bizarre attempt at throwing shade at Kaepernick that fell extremely flat.

Think maybe some weird joke about C. Kaepernick taking a knee. If so, joke does nkt make sense for a lot of reasons. Obvious one bejng Kaepernixk is not top quarterback unless u r excluding 25 or so guys
