The Asterisk is getting paid. Wilson and the Seahawks apparently have agreed to a four-year, $87.6 million dollar extension, though we're not sure yet if the announced money is for 2015-2018 or for 2016-2019. It looks like Wilson will now be the second-highest paid player in the game, behind Aaron Rodgers.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has upheld Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on integrity of the game.
Brady will miss the Thursday night opener against Pittsburgh, plus a home game against Jacksonville, road games against Buffalo and Dallas, and New England's bye in Week 4. He will be eligible to play Week 6 at Indianapolis.

From cute and cuddly (Houston's Toro) to nightmare serial killers (Pat Patriot) and whatever the hell the Chargers' mascot is.

If we don't have an argument about Beattie Feathers, who will?

The Arizona Cardinals have hired Dr. Jen Welter to their coaching staff, making her the first female coach in NFL history. And she won't be helping them with their nutrition or flexibility or training. She will be a training camp/preseason intern coaching inside linebackers, teaching the Mike Minters and Sean Weatherspoons of the world how to pursue and tackle.

In 2010, a 22-year-old Josh Freeman was among the NFL's top ten quarterbacks in touchdowns, passer rating, touchdown rate, interception rate, game-winning drives, total offense, and passing DYAR and DVOA. The rest of his career has been, well, the rest of his career. One of the strangest cases of promise and then collapse you'll ever see.
Miami will enter training camp with Ryan Tannehill, Matt Moore, and McLeod Bethel-Thompson as its quarterbacks.

Junior Galette had 10 sacks last season and 12 in 2013, and the Saints have reportedly paid him $18 million in the past year. And now, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, they are cutting ties with him.

What do you do if you are a woman and you want to play competitive football? You get stuck wearing a bikini in a league that doesn't pay you or provide health insurance -- because it's the best competitive football you can play. This is a great bit of long-form journalism over at Grantland by Jordan Ritter Conn. I ended up watching a bit of a "Legends" Football League game when flipping channels a couple weeks ago and the quality of play was no different from your usual Arena Football game.

Cincinnati returns to the No. 1 spot in our DVOA ratings, with Kansas City an even more surprising No. 1 in weighted DVOA. Plus, decline in Green Bay and Arizona isn't as horrible as total collapse in Philadelphia.
