Bills Suspend Moulds for Game Against Patriots

Eric Moulds has been officially suspended for Sunday's game after a week of speculation on his status. Allegedly, Moulds is suspended because of an argument Moulds had during last Sunday's game with receivers coach Tyke Tolbert. Moulds claims the disagreement began when Moulds came to the sidelines get his ankle looked at by the medical staff but Tolbert instead told Moulds to get back on the field. Moulds said no, and was benched for the rest of the game.

For Texas High School, Not Your Ordinary Opponent

This is a few weeks old, but I just read about it this afternoon when I was thumbing through the December 5th issue of Sports Illustrated. Rick Reilly devoted a column to it, and here's an article from the Austin American-Statesman. I suspect this will be made into a movie, and if I had to guess, Will Ferrell will star as "Herc Palmquist: player/coach." (free registration/bugmenot required)

Blinkered America is Already Among the Thugs

Reader Ian H. sends along this email:

"[This is] an interesting article comparing 'soccer houliganism' in the UK/Europe to violence at football games in the U.S. [It] seems very Philly-centric, but the author essentially claims the media downplays violence at football games (and sporting events in general) in the U.S. while condemning the UK/European fans for their unruly activities."

Running Debate

With Oakland and the Jets set to square off, it's time to debate Curtis Martin and LaMont Jordan again. "Martin was coming off a career year - he won the NFL rushing title - and there was no way to predict his production would decline this dramatically," says Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News.

Martin current stats, projected to 16 games:
980 rushing yards, 157 receiving yards, 7 touchdowns
Martin projection from PFP 2005:
1067 rushing yards, 174 receiving yards, 10 touchdowns

Fisher: Colts' Attempt 'Absurd'

This is my nomination for quote of the season:

"Fisher said it appeared as if the Colts were trying to catch the Titans for a penalty with what he called '75 guys, 10 trainers and four doctors on the field rather than 12. A lot of benefit from that.'"

Between this and the allegations about Indy pumping crowd noise through the PA system, I think we'll need another Congressional hearing.

Brian Westbrook Out for Season

It's official. The last remaining thing that could possibly go wrong for the Philadelphia Eagles has gone wrong.

Javon Walker Dumps Rosenhaus

The article doesn't give much in the way of details, but either way, it sure doesn't reflect well on Drew Rosenhaus. (free registration/bugmenot required)

TMQ: Run up the Middle!

Tuesday Morning Quarterback hits the AutoText button this week, writing that a failure to run up the middle cost Buffalo the game against Miami Sunday. TMQ also points out that the Colts have NFL history's longest streak of victories by more than seven points. (The 1942 Bears won 11 straight by at least a touchdown.)

Bears' Orton Gets Job Done

I believe the Chicago Bears should bench Kyle Orton. If Rex Grossman is healthy he should start. Otherwise Jeff Blake should start. As bad as the Bears' quarterbacks were last year, I believe Orton is worse.

Jeffri Chadiha disagrees. He writes, "You stick with what got your team to where it is.... After all, his job isn't to produce phenomenal numbers. He's there to put his team in position to win games. So far, he's done that well enough to give Chicago an eight-game winning streak."

Seymour Gives Fans an Earful

To be fair, Gisele Bundchen might have been the most exciting part of Sunday's game against the Jets. Seriously though, the article points out that, "...the open ends of Gillette and the close proximity of the club-level seats (where many fans opt to stay inside) have conspired to give the Pats one of the worst home-field advantages — in terms of crowd noise — in the NFL."

I'm guessing you won't be hearing this complaint from Colts players.
