For a guy who stands five-foot-four (five-foot-ten with the feathered hair), Doug Flutie certainly got the most out of his abilities. I'll always remember him for throwing that last second touchdown pass to Gerard Phelan in the Orange Bowl to beat Bernie Kosar and the Miami Hurricanes 22 years ago. Good times. Matt Cassel, you're now a play away.

Peter King thinks the Philadelphia Eagles' offense will be just fine without Terrell Owens.

I'm not exactly sure what changed between draft weekend and today, but the Lions finally traded Joey Harrington to the Dolphins for the same sixth-round pick Miami offered several weeks ago. In the article, Len Pasquarelli writes: "Apparently, adding the provision that can raise the compensation to a fifth-round choice was enough to satisfy Detroit officials." That sounds about right.

Well, this is a bit of a shock. The guy is old, but he was still playing well last year. The Jaguars are probably wishing he had said something before the draft. Perhaps they would have taken Chad Jackson instead of Marcedes Lewis. I think this decision makes it less likely that the Jaguars will overtake the Colts this year. Who are the starters there now? Ernest Wilford and Matt "I Was a Teenage Quarterback" Jones? Please tell me it won't be Reggie Williams.

FO entertainment editor Mike Tanier brought this to my attention: Rams head coach Scott Linehan is James Caviezel's brother-in-law. Caviezel, for those of you who don't regularly read People magazine, portrayed Jesus in The Passion of Christ and is, well, a dreamboat. He also just finished a movie with Denzel Washington, whose son just signed with St. Louis as an unrestricted free agent. The Rams passed on Paul Crewe, but still hope to ink Stefen Djordjevic before minicamp.

This article focuses on the return of Baltimore's 2005 second-round pick DE/OLB Dan Cody, who missed his rookie season due to injury. A few paragraphs in however, we find out the Ravens may primarily use a 4-4-3 defense this season (four defensive linemen, four linebackers and three defensive backs). There is very little depth in the secondary, so this might be the way to go, but signing a veteran safety would've been a good idea too. (free registration/bugmenot required)

Texans GM Charley Casserly is doing what anybody would do if they passed on Reggie Bush with the first overall pick in last month's draft: he's resigning. Actually, Casserly is a candidate to replace Art Shell in the league offices in New York as vice president of football operations. Nothing definitive on who might replace him in Houston (especially since he hasn't officially resigned), but I think Fran Foley is available.

I think most people would be satisfied if Pacman Jones just showed up and stayed out of trouble.

No, this is not an Onion headline. Hardcore football fans everywhere will slobber when they read about the new features in this year's Madden, because they're concentrating on all those guys who don't get any stats. I'm not sure what the average video gamer is going to think of this, but before each play you can pick a specific blocker and then play as that blocker, with specific moves to cut block, attempt to counter a defensive spin move, or try to pancake the defender. As this article puts it, "Madden NFL 07 isn't really about Mr. MVP ... Madden 07 is really about Walter Jones.
