This week: Is it sometimes better to go without star receivers? Sunday's Bengals performance seems to suggest so, and even the Chargers have a higher DVOA this year without Antonio Gates than they do with him -- he's been amazing, but the rest of the offense hasn't been quite as good when he's in the lineup. Likely coincidence, but still interesting.

Lane Johnson and D.J. Fluker were selected high in the draft, but both have troubling flaws in pass protection according to Word of Muth.

Re: ESPN AGS: Bengals over Chargers
Why are the Bengals listed as 8-7 in the lead-in? Is this a colossal brain fart, or some irony that will become apparent to the INsider who chooses to read the rest? If the latter, please ignore.
EDIT: Or, I suppose a much more likely explanation is that it's supposed to say "Chargers" there.
Re: ESPN AGS: Bengals over Chargers
Argh. Yes, the Chargers, not the Bengals, are the AFC team most better than their record.

Or it could be a sign that individual player DVOA isn't telling you what you think it is.
