Ohio State can't participate in the 2012 postseason due to NCAA sanctions, but how might the Buckeyes have figured into the BCS championship race this year if they were eligible? They'd likely sit on the outside looking in at this point, and a closer look at their statistical profile indicates the reasons why. The 10-0 Buckeyes have trouble giving up big plays on defense and generating first downs on offense compared with the big four contenders, and Ohio State's special teams and field position success is nowhere near Meyer's teams at Florida. Is it really a missed opportunity this season, or are they simply setting the stage to take a more important step forward next year?
