For an ESPN Insider series this week, I ran a first wave of FEI-based projections, identifying individual game win likelihoods based on team, offense, and defensive efficiency ratings. I then ran the win likelihood data through 1,000 trials to calculate the frequency with which each team claimed a conference crown. According to this data set, Alabama is the runaway favorite to win the SEC, based on a dominant program profile and a schedule that skips the top teams from the opposite division. South Carolina has the edge over Florida and Georgia in what should be a tough SEC East race.
