ESPN: Texas Tops Early Big 12 FEI Projections

For an ESPN Insider series this week, I ran a first wave of FEI-based projections, identifying individual game win likelihoods based on team, offense, and defensive efficiency ratings. I then ran the win likelihood data through 1,000 trials to calculate the frequency with which each team claimed a conference crown. According to this data set, Texas and Oklahoma State are the front-runners in the Big 12.

I have Texas Christian as #1, though I agree about OK St at #2.

Unfortunately for Oklahoma I wouldn't be stunned if they go 0-3 in that nasty stretch. They'll have a shot at all the games, but it's hard to see any one them as a particularly likely win.
