This week's MNF feature on ESPN takes a look at the biggest problem with the San Diego Chargers -- not the coach, not the offense, but one specific injury on defense. But looking back, it's surprising how little impact similar injuries had on other teams.

Lane Johnson and D.J. Fluker were selected high in the draft, but both have troubling flaws in pass protection according to Word of Muth.

lol - what about Mr Jamal Williams.
Re: ESPN: Chargers Miss Jamal Williams Badly
Losing Mr. Williams is a big deal, but it was really a trio of injuries. Ian Scott, Travis Johnson and Ryon Bingham all went down either in the preseason or after game 1, so there has been no backup. Or rather, the nose has been manned alternately by a cast-off from a bad 4-3 team, a larger-than-average rental-car clerk and a guy who hasn't played American Football since high school.

As a Texans fan, I have my doubts as to whether any of those things are materially worse than Travis Johnson.

They lost Igor Olshansky too.
They lost 2/3rds of their strong D-Line and replace them with guys off the rental car street...
D-Line in a 3-4: Run stopping
D-Line in a 4-3: Pass rush
but yeah, going from a pro bowl fire heidrent at nose tackle to a guy that might not have even been in the league if not for a freak accident...
