ESPN: Don't Count Out the Eagles

This week's MNF feature on ESPN Insider points out that one surprise loss does not spoil a team's Super Bowl hopes. Every single Super Bowl champion of the DVOA Era had at least one loss with a single-game DVOA lower than what the Eagles put up against Oakland; I catalog all 15 of those games.

If they lose to the Redskins tonight (regardless of DVOA) can we call them out of the running?

Everybody counted them out after they tied the Bengals last year. They still made the playoffs and almost the Superbowl.

sure, but perhaps losing to oakland AND washington might mean a bit of trouble...

Moot point now, but they DO have to start playing better.

We'll know quite a bit about the Eagles once this upcoming three-game stretch is over. If they lose tonight, the next two certainly don't look good.

I'm very interested to hear about the performance of the offensive line of the Eagles in the Redskins game; it looked like the Wildcat plays they ran failed to account properly for defenders. I'm not sure whose responsibility that was, but after the Oakland game, I do wonder about the ability of the line to properly identify who needs to be blocked before the snap.

I also wonder about the push at the line of scrimmage and the effective of the run game overall.
