We examine the Carson Palmer trade and conclude that it's a lot more about sustaining Oakland's playoff chances than actually improving the Raiders. The offensive line, in particular, has made a leap that has helped the Raiders offense play well.

Offensive line problems highlight the needs in the NFC North ... except in Chicago, which is kind of unsettling to think about.

I assume the answer is no?

I would assume the answer is "no", on the grounds they already are. A weak one, to be sure, but a contender.

I'm trying to figure out why I have an active Insider account already turned on, but I click through here and then I'm supposed to sign in again.

Very funny, but Schatz comes out with an emphatic YES. He says the Raiders currently have the second-best odds of making the playoffs in the AFC (the Pats have higher odds).
I'm less convinced. The defense is shaky, but with the easy schedule ahead, they should eke out 9-10 wins. That may be enough to take the division.
Yoda says: Go deep in the playoffs they will not.

As a Raider fan, I'll take that!

I'm rooting for Palmer to make this work. He'll have the best OL he's had since 2005.
