"All 13 of [Steve McLendon's] tackles were on plays we would categorize as 'stops', meaning that they prevented a successful offensive gain." Well, yes, he's a 3-4 nose tackle. Any time he makes a tackle, it's either of a player plowing into the pile for little or no gain, or (especially in the case of a sack) the offense line has blocked in some horribly wrong way. It's not like McLendon is chasing down plays from behind or anything.
