A little bit of a preview of Friday's AFC Championship preview here. The Pats' running attack isn't really better than past years, there's just more of it. It's also the perfect weapon to attack the weaknesses of the Ravens defense.

Lane Johnson and D.J. Fluker were selected high in the draft, but both have troubling flaws in pass protection according to Word of Muth.

That seems like a misreading of the statistics.
If the Patriots are running more, and achieving the same DVOA, it means they're running better, because they're more likely to be facing run defense formations.
Its like having 2 pitchers, one who throws only a fastball, and has a 50% whiff rate, and another who throws a fastball, curve, and changeup, and has a 50% whiff rate on his fastball. Chances are, the first guy has a better fastball, because hitters are sitting on it, and still can't hit it.
