A little bit of a preview of Friday's AFC Championship preview here. The Pats' running attack isn't really better than past years, there's just more of it. It's also the perfect weapon to attack the weaknesses of the Ravens defense.

Did the Denver Broncos just miss their one shot at a championship with Peyton Manning? Probably not. We put Manning's 2012 campaign into context (turns out it was really good), guesstimate how many more seasons he'll play, and what Denver needs to fix to contend again in 2013.

Do teams that are hot entering the postseason tend to outperform teams that played well all season long? Evidence seems to suggest that it doesn't matter.

Chris Johnson had a 94-yard run last night. He still shows that dynamic speed when he gets loose. The Titans should cut him after the season anyway. Vince Verhei explains why.

Using a new measure of team age based on snap count data, we show that the Falcons have fielded the oldest team in the league this season. Does the Falcons' relative old age doom their future Super Bowl chances? Age concerns are especially prevalent on defense, and along the offensive line.

The list of quarterbacks with negative DYAR in their first two seasons is a very unhappy list... and Christian Ponder is now on it.

Why is this Giants slump different from all other slumps? Because this one is powered by a massive personal slump for Eli Manning, three straight games below 0 DYAR. That's almost unheard of for a quarterback of his quality, and a good reason to believe the Giants can bounce back.

Philip Rivers is getting sacked more often and throwing more interceptions than ever before. Is this a sign that the Chargers need to move on from him, or do the problems extend beyond that? Similarity scores say that it's the latter.

With Tampa's ability to hit the deep ball and their unheralded knack for snuffing out running plays in the backfield, it's not totally crazy to think they could knock off enough more-heralded opponents to sneak their way to 10 wins.

Vince Verhei examines what's gone haywire with the Bills defense despite a big addition in the offseason. Of particular concern, opponents are absolutely torching Buffalo’s defense once they cross the 40-yard line … but is some of the damage self-inflicted?
