Why is this Giants slump different from all other slumps? Because this one is powered by a massive personal slump for Eli Manning, three straight games below 0 DYAR. That's almost unheard of for a quarterback of his quality, and a good reason to believe the Giants can bounce back.

Philip Rivers is getting sacked more often and throwing more interceptions than ever before. Is this a sign that the Chargers need to move on from him, or do the problems extend beyond that? Similarity scores say that it's the latter.

With Tampa's ability to hit the deep ball and their unheralded knack for snuffing out running plays in the backfield, it's not totally crazy to think they could knock off enough more-heralded opponents to sneak their way to 10 wins.

Vince Verhei examines what's gone haywire with the Bills defense despite a big addition in the offseason. Of particular concern, opponents are absolutely torching Buffalo’s defense once they cross the 40-yard line … but is some of the damage self-inflicted?

10th place in DVOA coming into the week, the Dolphins may be a surprise playoff team. Ryan Tannehill has been acceptable, and the run defense has been phenomenal. However, they will have to deal with a tougher schedule in the second half.

Why are the 3-3 Denver Broncos higher in DVOA than even the 6-1 Houston Texans? They have a balanced and improved defense, a terrible record of fumble recovery luck, and some dude named Peyton Manning.

Atlanta is 6-0, the last undefeated team, so they must be the best team in the NFL, right? We argue not, as the Falcons are a flawed team that can't run or stop the run, and has won close games over poor opponents.

The San Francisco 49ers have put together an offense that's nearly on par with their dominant defense, and they've done it with an offensive line that is clearing space in the run game to a historic degree.

You can blame some offensive problems, you can blame poor special teams, but the real reason Detroit is 1-3 is an awful secondary filled with holes.

It's rare that you can see the obvious effect of a missing player other than a quarterback, but it is pretty clear when looking at the numbers for the Pittsburgh defense with and without Troy Polamalu since 2008.
