ESPN: Week 1 Numbers Crunching

Numbers Crunching is back with a look at a couple of interesting Football Outsiders stats for each game of the week. This week: Why Calvin Johnson should have a big day against New Orleans, why the Bucs defense could do better than expected against Tony Romo, and a note about the odd right-wing tilt of the Seahawks and Rams.

Numbers Crunching is back, but it appears to have been moved behind the "Insider" wall. Dang.

Please read the column "SITE NEWS: 2009 FO Column Schedule."

Yeah, I read that just after having made that comment. I appreciate the explanation, and I can't really blame you all for not wanting to work for free. Insider/ESPNTM isn't really worthwhile to me (the NFL is the only sport I follow at more than a "watch one or two playoff games each season" level), but I'll be hanging around here so long as the "core-FO" articles keep showing up. (And, of course, buying the book annually.)

Numbers Crunching is behind the ESPN Insiders subscription wall? Really...

So after reading FO for the past few years I decided that I really like the content on this site and signed up for "Premium Content". And now ironically the interesting analysis I liked is now behind ESPN's premium wall, leaving me paying $ for what's left in FO premium - processed premium picks I won't use without supporting analysis and raw data I have no time to troll through. *sigh*

I think we make it pretty clear what is included in FO Premium, and the listing in the store doesn't say anything about specific columns that are FO Premium only. Nonetheless, we're really fans of having unhappy customers. If you believe that you purchased FO Premium under false pretenses, please use the contact form and let us know, and we can try to provide a pro-rated refund, particularly if you have bought a Premium subscription in the past two months (the period where giving Paypal refunds is easier).

Is Numbers Crunching the same thing as the fantasy matchups column? If not, where can you find that?

On ESPN Insider. Where else?

you guys should really work on the sarcasm. just saying. dont give a shit one way or another as to your having moved articles to espn insider as i rarely frequent the site anyways, (not a knock against footballoutsiders i always find the site informative when i do visit), but the defensive sarcasm is a bit over the top, and i'm sure will alienate many readers. reminds me a bit of a little bitch whining.

Lay off, everyone - these guys NEED to make some money! Hell, not long after Aaron started this site he got laid off from his real full time job (sorry, Aaron, can't remember exactly who it was - LYCOS?) and was asking people for donations to keep the site running. I wasn't able to donate then due to my own financial distress, but I felt for him nonetheless. Give them a break!!!! Besides, how many companies/services will offer a partial refund if you felt their services were misrepresented?
