In addition, though, Slaton has a more subtle issue to deal with: his new quarterback. Our research shows that losing a quarterback to injury actually affects the performance of the running game more than losing a running back; that should hold here, and Slaton should have a very middling game.
I don't think that would really apply to the Texans. I see Rosenfels and Schaub as being interchangeable. There's no way I'm starting Slaton against the Ravens, but I think he'll be fine after that.
Anybody think Peyton Hillis will be any good tonight? Shaun Rogers is injured, Selvin Young most likely won't play, and Torain can't be ready for 20 carries yet, can he?
My other options are Fargas (vs Car), Felix (vs Bye), Morris (vs Buf, injury) and garbage on the waiver wire (eg, Rudi vs Jac, Bush vs Car, Patrick Cobbs, Pierre Thomas, TJ Duckett, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jackson, etc).
This is kind of an add on to your question. I have Slaton (vs. BAL), who I guess I shouldn't start, but the only other option I have playing is Chester Taylor (vs. GB). Is he better than Slaton given that Slaton has more than double the points that Taylr has, does that make up for the matchup difference? My only other options are waiver-wire guys like Brandon Jackson, Sproles, Cobbs, Michael Bush, Bradshaw, etc. Are any of these options better? Hillis has already been picked up.
Sproles might be ok. I mean, LdT might get tired after his 10th 50+ yard run against KC's horrible run def. :-)
Jackson no, who is Cobbs (I know, plays for Mia), Bush no, Bradshaw maybe if you think NY'll be running out the clock in the 4th - that's when he gets most of his carries.
But I'd stick with Slaton. He'll get the ball, not go far, but maybe it'll be a back-and-forth game like Cleveland was leading to random points + garbage time.
Selvin Young will fight through his groin strain to play in tonight's battle at Cleveland, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network.
Plus, while Rogers is listed on the injury report, there's no word that he won't play.
Pick it, no PPR:
Jerricho Cotchery v. STL.
Matt Jones v. DET.
Slaton v. BAL
I'd probably go Jones there.
Here is a problem I bet a lot of people wish they had (before you get too envious I lost Brady to IR for the year)
First off it is a dynasty league which is why my team is so stacked. It actually is a 10 person league with 6 or 7 real strong owners and only 1 poor owner.
This week I have Portis on a bye. So for my remaining RBs I have:
Parker (was going to start him but he hurt his shoulder)
Adddai (PIT def is not a good matchup)
Slaton (BAL def is not a good matchup either)
I can only start 2 I am thinking Slaton and Hightower? Slatons matchup is bad but I trust him more than Adai right now, but I feel conflicted, any advice?
The Wire should win the Nobel prize for literature.
Wait, Willie Parker has the third hardest match-up against run defenses, but is +6% this week against the Colts? How was that projected? FWP will get a lot of carries/checkdowns due to the Colts defense and Pittsburg's desire to minimize the chance of a turnover?
Anyone have any ideas?
There is a strong chance FWP wont even play, he hasnt practiced.
My league starts two QBs. For one spot, I've got McNabb. No problem there. The other spot is a whole different story. The other QBs on my roster are:
Big Ben(vs. Indy). If he even plays, he's not going to be fully healthy, and probably won't be very effective.
Matt Schaub. Out.
Sage Rosenfels(vs. Baltimore). I picked him up after Schaub's injury, but this obviously not a good matchup.
So, I've got an injured guy who probably won't play and a replacement-for-injury guy who has a bad matchup.
As far as picking up someone from the free agent list, the best options appear to be Gus Frerotte(vs. Green Bay), Tyler Thigpen(@ San Diego), or whichever of Orlovsky/Culpepper gets the start against Jacksonville.
One potential benefit to starting either Rosenfels or Frerotte is that my opponent is starting Owen Daniels at TE and Bernard Berrian as one of his WRs. So starting either of those QBs would help negate any production from those receivers.
I would drop Rosenfels and pick up Frerotte, and play him as your second QB.
Tough call, i'd probably go with Sage. Knowning that the Vikes will run run run All Day.
Shoot, I got Green Bay's weird pass/rush defensive split mixed up. I'd roll the dice with Rosenfels this week, no way would I play Frerotte. Sorry if you've already dropped Rosenfels for Frerotte. Thigpen is a pretty equivalent play to Rosenfels if that's the case.
Addai vs Pitt
Green-Ellis vs Buf
which would be a better fantasy option this week? PPR League
I'd go Green-Ellis there. Addai is healthy again, but has a very tough matchup this week.
Sometimes you have to disregard the matchup.
Addai was a first round pick in all drafts
BenJarvis Green Ellis wasnt even drafted in the real NFL draft
New England varies their game plan so completely each week, you never know what you'll get as far as touches.
Start the first rounder - this is a no-brainer.
In one RB spot, I'm going with LdT v KC.
For the other spot, I've got
Westbrook v Giants,
D. Williams v Oakland or
Hightower v SF
I was leaning to Westy, but it looks like Williams should have a good week.
Why on Earth would you consider benching Westbrook? PLAY HIM.
Thanks for the reality check. Sometimes I tend to over-analyze.
i benched westbrook b/c of G men run D despite BW prior success. Started DW cuz Oakland can't stop a fly...well, they did have 4 interceptions.
Which 2 should I play:
- Berrian v. Minnesota (tough pass D, but maybe they'll sell out to stop the run?)
- S. Holmes v. Indy (who Barnwell gave a +7% to, I don't know why)
- D. Avery at NYJets (Jackson probably out against a good run D so maybe throwing a lot?)
Berrian isn't going anywhere against the Packer defense.
You're looking for a home run with these guys.
None of them are 8 catch WRs.
Take S.Holmes. Most likely to cross the stripe.
Ronnie Brown vs. Seattle or Chris Johnson vs. Chicago
Also, I want to thank this column as it (along with Kubiak, but really more this column) are the reason I'm number one in both of my leagues.
The column is great, but you can get the same information just by looking at the Team Defense stat report. Use Rush Defense for RBs, Pass Defense for QBs, and scroll down and use the second report for #1, #2, Other WR, and TE.
Allright, my league gives us three receiver slots.
Randy Moss is a must-start, but for the other two, I have
A.Battle (@Ari), D.Mason (@Hou), S.Holmes (Ind), S.Breaston (SF), and, technically, J.Carlson (@Mia).
* SF doesnt have the secondary to cover Fitz and Boldin - there will be no reason for Warner to ever make it to Breaston in his progressions.
When it comes to No. 1 corners, a familiar name was No. 1 in 2014.
