This is the second annual article for NBC where I write six stat factoids about the six Thanksgiving teams, and this one turned out really well! I fiddle with Aaron Rodgers' completion rates, go through Lions history, and look at some historic kickers who compare with David Akers, among other things.

These matchups start with the suggestion that five years of hearing about the Patriots dynasty dying causes ear bleed, then later hints that Jay Cutler may go above and beyond to get the extra penalty. So yeah, I am expecting to get walloped.

I enjoyed writing this one: it forced me to watch a lot of Texans game tape, then watch every single Lions "roughness" foul, which was a lot of fun unless you have an emotional attachment to Matt Ryan.

The big story here is that I learned too late that it is OK at the Times to call beanbag toss "cornhole." I mean, who would have thought? So I tap dance around the game's name in the Chiefs comment, when every fiber of my being longed to put the words "cornhole" and "Todd Haley" in one sentence.

The article is not really about Sparano, but about the latest wave of assistants who could not cut it as NFL head coaches. I think, 20 years from now, Josh McDaniels will still be held up as an object lesson on what not to look for when choosing a new coach.

It took a lot of brainstorming this week, but I finally realized who Andy Dalton reminds me of.

For the record, I do not really know if Lance Louis is better than Frank Omiyale at this point. I have lots of scouting, going back to last year and the preseason, that tells me Louis is awful. I have lots of scouting that says Omiyale was just kind-of bad until two weeks ago. Either one has to be better than a rotation of both of them.
