Four Downs: NFC South

The free agent carousel is turning in the NFC South. June is busting out all over in Tampa, Patrick Kerney ditches Atlanta for a real nice clambake in Seattle, and Joe Horn blows high and blows low before blowing out of New Orleans. What's the use of wonderin' if the Panthers will make any moves when they are so low on cap space? You never walk alone when Mike Tanier breaks down the free agent action.

Four Downs: AFC North

It's time for goodbyes in the AFC North. Goodbye to Eric Steinbach, to Adalius Thomas, and to Ken Whisenhunt. Goodbye, unfortunately, to LeCharles Bentley. Goodbye to Jamal Lewis? Perhaps not. Guest columnist Jeff Bathurst sits in to bring us the latest from the NFL's industrial belt.

Four Downs: NFC North

The NFC North had three of the top six defenses last season, and now it has three new defensive coordinators. What does this say about the Bob Sanders you've never heard of? Plus: All the teams are loaded with cap room, but is there anyone out there to spend it on?

Four Downs: NFC South

Charles Grant braces for the franchise tag, the Bucs talk trade, Michael Vick calls his own shots, Keyshawn Johnson remodels a condo, and the god of wine dislocates his non-bead-tossing elbow. It's Mardi Gras in the NFC South, and everyone's invited except Dan Henning.

Four Downs: AFC East

Put on a pot of coffee; this edition of Four Downs is chock full of info. Bill Barnwell looks at overused running backs, second-half receivers, the Colts' #2 receiver, Dallas Clark, and the worst run defenses in the history of DVOA. See if you can guess what they all relate to before reading the article.

Four Downs: NFC East

In 2005, the NFC East was the league's best division with a historically strong collection of coaches. In 2006, one of those coaches lost his ability to motivate, one lost his ability to pick personnel, one quit, and one needs time off for his family. Three teams made the playoffs, but two of them backed in. What will become of the NFC East in 2007?

Four Downs: AFC West

All four AFC West teams had disappointing endings to their seasons. One has a new offensive coordinator, one has a new defensive coordinator, and one has both. The fourth team has the same coordinators and quote-worthy head coach. Where do they go from here? Four Downs has some answers.

Four Downs: AFC East

We finish our "Best Player Available" analysis and the latest round of Four Downs by taking a look at the new arrivals in the AFC East: Two exiled New Orleans defenders, some talented young defensive backs, a couple rookie Dolphins with family connections to the NFL, one PFP 2006 coverboy, and a new challenger for the title of "Football Outsiders' Favorite Player."
