Brett Favre's consecutive games started stat seemed to be worth repeated mention every time he plays, even long before he surpassed Jim Marshall (or Jeff Feagles, when that happens).
Beyond that, the only one i can think of that matters is "superbowl wins" as a stat...
spam filter still hyperactive. posting piecemeal (blocks post, so highlight last 75% and cut, post first 25%, it goes through, then edit, add what's in clipboard, post, blocked, go back and take out last 75%, repeat till it all gets through. I'd have to disagree with Mr. Tanier on one point: the style of play in baseball has most certainly changed over the years, in some cases dramatically. (Dead-ball era, pre-WWII, Gibson era, Henderson era, current era ...)
But yes, the schedule hasn't expanded nearly as much as it has in football, so season-length records are kind of comparable (even though the last time I saw a record book, MLB separated 154-game records and 162-game records if the 162-game record was better).
Same problem with the filter: had to attempt multiple times. I reported it.
Extrapolating Namath's 4,007 yds to a 16 game season results in 4,579 yds. being the equivalent target. Utilizing P-P-R.com's Player Season Finder, 15 QB seasons by 11 different QBs have achieved this mark.

Arguably the NFL's greatest record -- John Unitas' TD passes in 47 straight games, nobody else has come close even decades after all the passing rules were loosened up, the closest thing to DiMaggio's hitting streak which baseball fans revere -- isn't even mentioned.

There are some that seem to hold some water....

I have tried to post about 6 different times in the last couple days, but gave up on trying to make it work.
The spam filter is completely broken right now.

In my opinion, Johnson's breaking of Faulk's yards-from-scrimmage record is more impressive than his hitting 2,000 yards rushing.
Not even mentioned
