The most important position in an organization is filled by a person of a different race, one who hasn't traditionally filled that position. Completely irrational comments that counter reality (and which if enacted would harm their own interests) are shouted by a mass of people rooting for the organization. The mass attempts to deny the racist underpinnings of their feelings, but pretty much everyone sees right through it.

Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
Nice job, Mike. The Garcia entry is brilliant.
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
I love the caption about Garcia not allowing the Eagles to lose another NFC Champ game. That was brilliant.
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
The comment about McNabb's playoff performances was excellent. Fans don't seem to know a good thing when they have it.
However, the worst part of his last playoff performance occurred prior to the game with his air guitar incident.
Oh, and that Kolb photo was painful...

Sports talk radio and sports message boards are the killing fields of intellectual discourse.
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
Enjoyed the article except for the ignorant political comment. Why go there, Mike?

Seems like a fine parallel to me.
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
Maybe I missed something, but I didn't see anything political in that. Did I miss something?
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
Hello
Me too on the needless political shot, but perhaps the author was playing to his NYT audience.

Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
I didn't want to read this but it turned out to be brilliant.
I also missed the political comment: is it the bit about the Tea Party movement? That's a long time in the past, isn't it?
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
The part I dislike is the required shot at Eagles fans in every NYT article Tanier writes.
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
To be fair, you can't really write the story of McNabb's career without taking a shot or two at Eagles fans.
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
The truth is, that Philly fans are now scared McNabb will beat them.
"Bummer that we only got draft picks for him and that he’s going to Washington so he’ll probably kick our asses twice this coming year."
Re: NY Times: Milestones in McNabb File
Good job. I do fix slow computer, but always wanted to devote himself to sport!
