It's a sousaphone, a subset of tubas, and its player, Damon Bryson, also goes by the name of "Tuba Gooding Jr."

John Legend is not a member of The Roots.

... and if you know that, then you presumably know that just a few months ago John Legend and The Roots joined each other in studio to collaborate on an album, entitled "Wake Up!"
Similar to how Santonio Holmes joined the Jets on field a few months ago, to produce a season called "this season."

Right, and the first single from Holmes' and the Jets' collaboration, entitled "Do They Know It's The Playoffs?" will be released this Sunday, with all proceeds being donated to the Santonio Holmes Legal Defense Foundation.

"Let's start with the question a lot of people were asking me on Twitter last night: Are the 2010 Seattle Seahawks the worst playoff team in NFL history? At least as far as DVOA is concerned, the answer turns out to be a surprising "no." The Seahawks were so good in their final win -- their third-highest DVOA of the year, 46% -- that they climb to -23.6% overall. That puts them ahead of the 2004 Rams, who had -26.5% DVOA."

vs.

"The mighty Bullets aside, the Seahawks are the worst team ever to reach the playoffs in an established league that doesn’t award postseason berths like participation trophies."

Fight!

Tanier never brings DVOA into NYTimes articles.

Tanier may also think said last win is meaningless and that DVOA doesn't adjust enough for the putridness of the 2010 NFC West. And as a 49ers fan that really hurts to write. But... Ya. The 2010 NFC West is a joke.

Seattle has the best chance they will ever get to steal a playoff win -- rain/snow in the forecast, an opponent with dinged-up running backs that is used to playing in a dome, and Matt Hasselbeck playing to avoid what may be the last game of his career. Just throw in the lime-green socks and it's a lead-pipe lock.

...and the Saints are wearing their black pants.

From Twitter: @wwltvsports White jerseys, black pants this weekend. In other news, #Saints fan base preparing for apocalypse.

For those who don't hang out on Saints message boards, many of the posters believe that the color of the pants that the team wears dictates their success. FML
