NY Times: Sunday Wild Card Matchups

My New Year's resolution was to post these on time. Oops. Well, here they are. Better luck next week.

mike, I thought you were contractually bound to pick the Giants every week. What gives?

He's laying the three strokes and still taking the Giants.

The only Giant I'd take is the new "How to Get Hot Girls" girl. Nice!

Does this go in the Sunday newspaper? No analysis of Saturdays games?

If Dimitri Patterson is adequate, then he's an upgrade from Ellis Hobbs, right?

And my one concern for Baltimore is Joe Flacco's 1 TD/6 INT playoff record.

Can we make it illegal to talk about a QB's playoff record until he's played, say, a dozen playoff games?

Thanks.

Or, go one step better and never corollate a team's record with a QB's worth? Seriously, if one argues that records and championships define a QB's value, then is that person really going to argue that Brady has gotten worse as a QB over the second half of his career? (using the dumb logic that Brady won 3 SB's in his first half decade, and hasn't won any SB's in the second half decade, therefore he must be worse than he used to be)

I agree to an even higher degree -- win-loss record is only a small part of a QB's value, often predicated on the abilities of the other, say 52 guys on a team.

To be fair Athelas was talking about Flacco's TD/INT record, not his win%.

"DeSean Jackson often returns punts for the Eagles in high-pressure situations. But then, you knew that."

Wow. What an awesome line to for the New York Times. I wonder if the editors even caught it.

[T]he Flowers-Carr combo will be the Chiefs’ most important players when Flacco cocks his shoulder and launches.

What about when Flacco shoulders his...

Never mind.
